Idiopathic Lung Disease, its Symptoms and The Treatment.

It is a type of lung disease that results in scarring of the lungs. This disease is progressive and the person cannot easily take a breath and also the lungs are not able to inhale oxygen. It is also a type of interstitial lung disease that results in tissues around the air sacs and they do not directly affect the airways of blood vessels. There are many types of lung diseases that cause inflammation to the body. The person experiences the following symptoms during this process.

A chronic cough: a cough usually lasts for 8 weeks. Many people experience a dry cough, while some other people cast phlegm also. Such persons experience many other symptoms such as :

• Weight loss

• Chest pain

• Loss of energy and tiredness

• Changing the finger shape known as rubbing

The root cause of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis is not known. But, yet it may be caused due to the following reasons.

Family history:

Nearly 20% of people whose parents or grandparents, suffered from interstitial lung disease, then the person can develop this disease. Even if more than one person in the family suffers from this disease, then the chances are even higher.

Cigarette Smoking:

Nearly 75% of people who constantly smoke suffer from this disease.

Male sex:

Usually male suffer from this disease.

Acid reflux:

Nearly 75% of people who suffer from problems such as heartburn, acid reflux, suffer from idiopathic lung disease.

Age factor:

People above 50 years suffer from this disease.

Treatment for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis

This disease cannot be cured with medications or surgeries. But, yet doctors can provide treatment for slowing the progress of scarring. But they cannot reduce the symptoms of breathlessness and cough. The medications that are prescribed for treating the disease are Pirfenidone and nintedanib. These medications can slow the progress of the disease, but yet many patients do not consume this tablet because they produce side-effects. But, yet the people who are severely suffering from this disease do not consume these medications.

Some of the stem cell supplements are used for reducing the symptoms such as shortness of breath and cough. Still, some medications are used for treating problems such as gastroesophageal reflux and acid therapy is provided for patients who suffer from shortness of breath. Medications such as morphine are used to treat such diseases. The symptoms of this disease can be cured, but yet this disease cannot completely disappear. So, the other treatment provided by the doctor include pulmonary rehabilitation, supplemental oxygen, and lung transplant. Such patients should be treated with education and exercise training.

The person should quit smoking so that they will not face severe symptoms. The patient can get a flu shot and a pneumonia shot. Such people should not stay with people suffering from chest infections and cold. Such a person should always wash their hands so that they do not develop an infection in the process.

Due to scarring of lungs, the oxygen cannot be absorbed into the body. Due to low oxygen levels, the person can feel breathless and tired. So, such persons should use oxygen masks or avail oxygen therapy always.

Some of the medications that are Pirfenidone, Nintedanib, Corticosteroid pills etc. The other medications prescribed by the doctors are azathioprine, cyclophosphamide, and others. At the severe stage, the doctors even recommend a lung transplant. The doctors also recommend a pulmonary rehabilitation program.
